Château de Pennautier is basically the “Versailles of the Languedoc” — a grand, historic château and working winery in the Occitanie region of southern France, just outside Carcassonne.
It was built starting in 1620 by Bernard Reich de Pennautier, who at the time was treasurer of the States of Languedoc. Over the centuries it’s been expanded and renovated, and it’s still owned by the same family (now the Lorgeril family).
Today, it’s known for three things wine, history & architecture, and hospitality.
